1880 Iowa Census (Fremont County) shows that Samuel and his younger brother, William, lived together.

1920 Nebraska Census (Johnson County) shows Samuel and Jennie West in Tecumseh. The 1920 census also shows that Bryce (son) and Florence (daughter) live with Samuel and Jennie.

Samuel married Jenny Belle Younts, daughter of John W. Younts and Ursula Murnan. (Jenny Belle Younts was born about 1867 in Iowa and died after 1946.)
